The Cluemeister’s Explanation of the 2022 Jimmy John’s Medallion Hunt

  I had chosen Dirksen Park many years ago and it was found on the 2nd clue that year.  So I’ve been reluctant to go back.  When I had committed to it I knew we’d have to hide it further back than last time.  Yet in doing so, we needed an easily recognizable spot. The noticeable hollow of a tree accomplished that.  I also want a non-physical set of clues.  As I scrolled my Googled entry of Everett Dirksen Park, I found “Dirksen Nature Park” in Tigard Oregon.  I knew I had to go there.  I did this for those hunters who can’t get out, live far away, or just want a bit of a heightened brain teaser.   The Jimmy John’s Marigold Medallion Hunt Begins Monday, August 29 th with a $1500 Cash Prize   It’s not often hundreds of people from one city compete in a scavenger hunt for a single item. But for the City of Pekin, it’s an annual occurrence. For the past 43 years, the Pekin Marigold Festival has opened with the hunt for the Medallion: a small disc hidden within the community, found only by interpreting a series of mystic yet poetic clues. Long-time Cluemeister, Gary Gillis, will release 2022’s first clue on Marigold Festival social media and the Jimmy John’s Marigold Medallion blog Monday, August 29 th at 12:00 p.m. Hunters should be quick to begin deciphering, as the clues release daily with each subsequent clue becoming more revealing.     Pekin Community Selects Winning 2022 Pekin Marigold Medallion Design A medallion designed by recent PCHS graduate Curtis Cook will represent the 2022 Pekin Marigold Medallion Hunt.  Pekin, IL May 18, 2022 - The Pekin Area Chamber of Commerce congratulates recent Pekin Community High School graduate Curtis Cook for his winning Pekin Marigold Medallion design.  Nearly one dozen fused glass artworks were submitted to the Pekin Marigold Festival Committee, with finalists posted for a live poll on the festival's social media. All potential medallions were designed by PCHS art students, a tradition started just more than a decade ago.  Curtis began art classes with the high school in his freshman year, focused on completing the program and attaining an independent study course offering.
